Spring Run Wrap-up

In spite of the unpredictable weather forcasts, the rain managed to remain at bay for the majority of the weekend giving everyone great footing for dressage warm-up and stadium.
Lourie and Star were our first pair to go in the first of two BN divisions. Lourie rode like a pro, working very hard at maintinaing Star’s focus. Perhaps it was a full moon? Star chose to look at nearly everything all weekend long. He was a little tight at times in the dressage, still the pair came out on top of their division. A gorgeous, double clear round in stadium and they maintined their lead overnight. Sunday brought a new challenge, as the rain clouds opened up upon us, just as they cleared fence8 on cross country. Not even 1/2 way through the course yet, and it began to pour. Thankfully, it was a brief shower, lasting only until they went through the finish flags! What luck, eh? Lourie had to work extra hard at keeping Star on task, with rain, and finished just a hair over time to complete only her second recognized horse trial in 4th place ! Lourie and Star are now officially qualified for the American Eventing Championships in Illinois later this summer! How cool is that ?DSC_0327
Lindsay and Mt. Fuji were stellar in dressage! Their BEST test to date!!! Fuji was consistantly forward off her leg, happy, and ridden accurately throughout. Jeri was beaming with pride at the vast improvement that this pair have made over the past couple of months….heck, the past couple of weeks! They really came together to land them in 2nd place after dressage in the second of two large BN divisions ! Can you stand it? Lindsay, not knowing of her placing, went bolding into stadium and rode her heart out. She truly rode each individual fence and made each stride count. Another double clear round for this Wind Ridge Farm pair, and a solid second place going into cross country on Sunday. Did either of you sleep Saturday night? By the time they left the start box for cross country, the sun was out, and Praise the Lord, the footing was just dry enough once again for a safe, and yes, ANOTHER double clear round !! They maintained their placing, picking up their first qualifying score for the AEC’s !!!DSC_0404
DON’T FORGET: Team CEO Mini-Trial (June 27th) closes THIS week, and Flying Cross BIG Mini-Trial (July 19th) is another good one to consider before the bigger fall events. Are YOU ready to go with us ?
